LUC:
10:00 we were on the boat ready to dive. we are going to place called cannon. First my mom and dad had to do a dive 25 meters way over my limit . Their dive was 45 min I spent the time sleeping, looking for ships there were lots and talking to Claude (the skipper). Then mom, dad and the instructor( Rataan ) came up. After a half an hour I put my diving gear on and got into the water. We went down and did the five skills and after that we continued our dive. We saw 6 eel,s lots of butterfly fish, a titan trigger fish and lots of other fish. Then the best of all - we saw the cannon. Then I was low on air so we went up. When we got back we swam .

CALLIE:
Today’s main activity was diving in order to capitilise on the good weather – and we again set off on the little yellow wooden boat out of the mobile dive operation called “Dive style Limited” . The reef was one of the must dives – called “Rampant Serpent” or tail of the serpent. What a lovely surprise – we fell into 25m blue water and were greeted by loads of devil fire fish and large schools of yellow snappers. The reef forms snake like curves and is especially rewarding if you spend time looking for the micro life – we saw two types of leaf fishes (white and purple) and about 4 types of eels ranging from monsters to tiny ones ie the juvenile geometric eel . At the end I was touching deco time and then headed up – much to Monique’s dismay who wanted to push bottom time in return for some extra deco time ! - Luc’s chance was the second one and this time he had no problem getting down, did his skills effortless and then had a wonderful dive with Rataan and us two watching carefully. Back home we ventured into Flic en Flac for some light lunch – which ranged from a roti filled with a lentil stew(the last one in the stall!) at the famous take out across Spar to tiny samoosas at the beach vendors. Monique had a local treat of fresh mango and chilli spice powder!

MONIQUE:Not much to say after that. Except that we are very proud of Luc. He is a natural. Not only did his skills very effortlessly, but then he commanded his dad’s torch and set off with Rataan looking for fish, eels and cannons. There are a few of these cannons in the area and they date from late 1700’s. When I asked Claude and Rataan what happened to the treasures of those years, they just laughed! The Flic en Flac beach is a beautiful beach protected by a coral reef – so swimming and snorkelling is good. Not that we tried it, we went hunting for food. The best of the day was the guys being very excited about the cheap samoosas @ R 1.50 each – when they got them they saw why they were so cheap! Very, very, very small samoosas! Two best discoveries of the day was the fresh fruit stall – it reminded us of the Mexico where they also ate chilli salt with the fresh fruit – Bioche Au Coco – bun filled with coconut and raisins.

PS : One point to Mauritius for diving – Seychelles 1 Mauritius 1
